"This department trains singers, as well as players of the oud, violin, qanun, ney, percussion, and other Middle Eastern instruments, to become soloists and ensemble musicians in Oriental-Arabic music.

The curriculum includes Maqam studies, Arabic music theory, the history of Arabic music, and improvisation workshops, in addition to courses in Western music
